Be not deceived: neither <B>fornicators</B>, …. shall inherit the kingdom of God.</div> <DIV ALIGN="LEFT"></DIV> <div>  (<B>I Corinthians 6:9-10</B>)</div> <div> The Greek word for “<I>fornicator”</I> found in this passage is <I>pornos</I> and is defined as <I>one who indulges in fornication. </I>The Greek word for “<I>fornication”</I> is <I>porneia</I> and is defined in the Greek-English Lexicon as, “<I>illicit sexual intercourse.” </I>Such is <I>illicit</I> because it is outside the bond of marriage. The Bible says, “<I><B>Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every </B></I><I><B><U>man</U></B></I><I><B> have his own </B></I><I><B><U>wife</U></B></I><I><B>, and let every </B></I><I><B><U>woman</U></B></I><I><B> have her own </B></I><I><B><U>husband</U></B></I><I><B>”</B></I><I> </I>(<B>I Corinthians 7:2</B>). <FONT SIZE="3" COLOR="#FF0000" FACE="Arial" > It matters not that we are in the 21st century. Such is described in <B>Romans 1:26-27</B>. </FONT>“<I>For this reason God gave them over to </I><I><B>vile passions.</B></I><I> For even their women exchanged </I><I><B>the natural use for what is against nature</B></I><I>. Thayer's Greek-English Lexicon says it is “<I>an embezzler; pilferer.”</I> A disciple of Jesus Christ is one who labors that he might be able to <B>give</B> to others <B>not take from</B> them. <FONT SIZE="3" COLOR="#0000FF" FACE="Arial" >“<I>Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth” </I></FONT>(<B>Ephesians 4:28</B>). Anyone who takes anything of which he is not owner is a thief whether it be material goods or even the spouse or children of another. The value is immaterial. Rightful ownership makes the difference! <FONT SIZE="3" COLOR="#0000FF" FACE="Arial" >“<I>Provide things honest in the sight of all men”</I></FONT> (<B>Romans 12:17b</B>).<FONT SIZE="3" COLOR="#FF0000" FACE="Arial" ><B> Make America strong. Thayer's Greek-English Lexicon says: “<I>(1) one eager to have more, esp. what belongs to others; (2) greedy of gain, covetous”</I> (#4120, page 516). Jesus said in<B> Luke 12:15</B>,<FONT SIZE="3" COLOR="#FF0000" FACE="Arial" > “<I>Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.”</I></FONT><I> </I>Greed for gain is the motivation behind gambling. Greed is the vice gratified in playing games of chance for money as happens at casinos. Such leads to moral decadence without question. <FONT SIZE="3" COLOR="#0000FF" FACE="Arial" >“<I>But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. (<B>I Corinthians 6:9-10</B>)</div> <div> The Greek word <I>methusos</I> is translated <I>drunkards</I> in this passage. <U>Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible </U>says: “<I>to drink to intoxication, i.e. get drunk”</I> (#8134, Greek Dictionary of the New Testament, page 62). The disciple of Jesus Christ is careful not to impair his ability to make sound judgments in his actions. Drunkenness does not characterize godliness. <FONT SIZE="3" COLOR="#0000FF" FACE="Arial" >“<I>But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. The same word is used in the Septuagint version (Greek version of the Old Testament) in <B>Proverbs 25:24</B>, <FONT SIZE="3" COLOR="#0000FF" FACE="Arial" >“<I>It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than with a </I><I><B>brawling </B></I><I>woman and in a wide house.”</I> </FONT> Again, from <B>Proverbs 26:21</B>, <FONT SIZE="3" COLOR="#0000FF" FACE="Arial" >“<I>As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire; so is a </I><I><B>contentious </B></I><I>man to kindle strife.”</I></FONT> We learn from these passages that the disciple of Jesus Christ is not one who uses coarse, harsh, and bitter words; not one to abuse others whether mentally or physically. One cannot be a Christian and wound the feelings of others. Such is contrary to the very spirit of Jesus Christ, Who, the Bible says, “<FONT SIZE="3" COLOR="#0000FF" FACE="Arial" ><I>...when He was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, He threatened not</I></FONT><I>...” </I>(<B>I Peter 2:23</B>).<FONT SIZE="3" COLOR="#FF0000" FACE="Arial" ><B> Make America strong. Vine, p. 64, Fleming H. Revell Company, 1966). Persons of such character are to be excluded from the fellowship of the church established by Jesus Christ. <FONT SIZE="3" COLOR="#0000FF" FACE="Arial" >“<I>But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat”</I></FONT> (<B>I Corinthians 5:11</B>). <FONT SIZE="3" COLOR="#FF0000" FACE="Arial" ><B>Taking by force that which belongs to another is dishonest and unacceptable by God.
